Busy!!

Baseball, swimming lessons, gymnastics, visits with law school friends, Father's Day, golf, fevers and Nashville!  That pretty much sums up the last couple of weeks.

I am working on videos from Drew's baseball game, but as of right now, all I have is a picture of Ryan after one of the games.  Ryan played hard while Drew played baseball and was exhausted!

After Drew's baseball game on the 15th, we drove to Davenport to celebrate Angela's birthday and we had a great time catching up with everyone.  We tried to get a few pictures of our babies and one of all of the kids, but it is getting harder and harder to get the babies to cooperate!

We celebrated Father's Day on Sunday.  The kids' gifts were all adorable, but Drew's was hilarious.

This was the best picture I got of the kids with Andy on Father's Day.  Yeah, we need to practice up before we get family pictures taken one of these days!

Andy bought Drew new golf clubs and Kayley her first set.  She is very excited for her pink clubs.

And she likes posing with her clubs.

And she even seems to like golfing.  In flip flops.  She and Andy are going to the driving range all by themselves one of these days so she can get some one-on-one lessons from him!

Drew loves golf almost as much as he loves baseball.

Andy and I went to Nashville with friends this past weekend while my mom stayed with our kids.  We had so much fun!  And the highlight of the trip was definitely having the good luck to be in the Full Moon when Shooter Jennings came in to play a few songs!

Unfortunately, Ryan got sick with a fever the day before we left.  Isn't it the middle of June?  Of course, our kids would get a fever in the middle of June!  The good news is Ryan was back to his adventurous self pretty quickly.

I had to pick Drew up early today because he had a fever.  He was pretty sick when he went to bed tonight so I am hoping he recovers as quickly as Ryan.  Now, will Kayley be spared this round or will she get it right after Drew gets better?!

Another Birthday - Kayley Turns Five!

Grandpa's birthday, Ryan's birthday and now Kayley's birthday!  It has been a busy few days at our house!

Kayley has been counting down for this birthday since she turned four!  Kayley has grown up so much during the past year.  She is excited and ready for Kindergarten.  She is still mischievous and downright naughty at times (for example, she just recently cut her hair AGAIN and drew all over her wall), but she can also be the most caring and sweetest girl when she wants to be.  She loves Ryan more than anything and is always taking care of him.  She recently told me (with a huge smile on her face) that when I die she will become Ryan's mommy...

We celebrated Kayley's birthday yesterday with a party at Jump Start Gymnastics, which is the same place she goes for her gymnastics classes.  Kayley's teacher spent an hour with the kids on the gymnastics equipment.  Drew was very excited to go!  He watches Kayley jump on the trampolines and has always wanted to go out there and try it.

Then the party moved to the party room and the kids had cake and juice.

When we got home, we celebrated some more and Kayley opened her presents from the family.

And we finished off the afternoon with more cake thanks to Uncle Matt.  He really wanted ice cream cake so Grandma bought Matt Kayley a Hello Kitty ice cream cake.  :-)

One Year Old!!

This little guy turned 1 on June 6th and he is pretty excited about it!

I have tried to enjoy every minute of his first year.  I think we took having a baby for granted after getting pregnant so easily with Drew and Kayley.  Struggling for over a year to get pregnant and STAY pregnant put a lot of things in perspective for us.  I would love to say I never felt sorry for myself, but I definitely had my moments.  And now, we are so incredibly blessed to have Ryan that I feel a little guilty because I have too many friends that have struggled with infertility in some form or another and several of them are still struggling.  It is truly heartbreaking, but when it eventually works out, the baby you have is worth all of the struggles!

Ryan wasn't that interested in opening his presents so Drew and Kayley were more than happy to help him.

He definitely enjoyed his cake once he got going!

And when he was done, he was done!  Poor boy made himself a little sick with how much he ate.  I gave him a bath and he seemed tired so I put him right to bed.  He started crying about 15 minutes later, which is really unusual for him.  Andy was a little concerned that he may have thrown up so he went up to check on him.  He didn't throw up, but he did seem a little uncomfortable and WIDE AWAKE!  Ryan normally goes to bed between 7 and 7:30pm.  Andy brought him down and he played hard until 9:45pm when he finally started to act tired.  Guess he had quite the sugar rush!

He slept in the next day and then got right to playing with his toys!

The one thing we are struggling with right now is dropping the bottle.  We took the bottle from Drew and Kayley right at 1 year (1 year adjusted age for Kayley) without any problems.  Ryan has only started liking his bottle in the past few months, but now he loves it.  Unfortunately, he doesn't seem to like milk.  At all.  He throws the sippy cup off of the highchair tray whenever we give it to him.  I'm not sure what to do about this because this is something we aren't used to!  He has his 1 year check up on Tuesday so I'll definitely be asking the pediatrician for some advice.  As much as I didn't want to do it, we even offered him milk in his bottle, but he knew better and that made him even more mad than milk in the sippy cup.  He really wants his formula!

Milestones for Drew

The last week of May was a big week for Drew.  He had his last day of Kindergarten on Wednesday.

I cannot believe how quickly his first year of school went!  He loved Kindergarten and is very excited to start First Grade.  I think he is also excited to be the big brother next year when Kayley starts Kindergarten.  He wastes no time telling her where Kindergartners sit on the bus compared to First Graders whenever she says she plans to sit with him!

A few days later, Andy took Drew's training wheels off of his bike.  He caught on really quickly and is very excited to be done with training wheels.  He has outgrown his bike and we told him we would get him a new one as soon as he learns to ride his old one without training wheels.  He wanted to try immediately!  The one thing we noticed is that he is a little nervous to use his brakes because he thinks he is going to fall.  So, he either tries to stop with his feet or runs right into things in order to stop.  Definitely need to work on that!

While Drew practiced without training wheels, Kayley "practiced" riding her new bike that she received for her birthday a little early from Uncle Matt.

Grandma came for Drew's last day of school because he couldn't start the summer program at our daycare until the next week.  The kids love having Grandma here to play with.  They kept her busy as always!

Andy had a golf tournament last week so Grandma and I took the kids to Chuck E. Cheese.  This time, I swear, I am really never going back!  The kids had fun, but both Kayley and Ryan picked up a cold germ of some sort.  I thought we were "safe" because the kids just had the stomach flu, but no such luck!

We also celebrated Grandpa's 62nd birthday when he came to visit on June 5th!
